Verallia (formerly Allied Glass) Supports Local Foodbank with Generous Staff Donation
Verallia (formerly Allied Glass), leading glass manufacturer and supplier for some of the world’s most prestigious brands, has made a valuable donation to its local food bank. Through the use of a ‘bring a can to work’ scheme which was instigated by the Production team at their Knottingley based site, the company has been able to donate substantially after only running the scheme for an initial few weeks.
Tim Kaye, Verallia’s Factory Manager in Knottingley, says: “We know how vital the work that Kellingley Community Hub is doing to ensure that local families have food in their cupboards. Because food banks are 100% volunteer based, we really wanted to do something to show our appreciation and to recognise the work that they do.”
The company has a deep-rooted connection with the local communities, with staff members regularly dedicating time to support initiatives local to their manufacturing sites. The Knottingley site team have recognised that the need to help families has never been greater. The increasing cost of living and household bills is continuing to put pressure on local food banks as public reliance on these resources grows.
Paul Green, of Kellingley Community Hub says: “I strongly believe that no-one should go hungry. We are very grateful to the team at Verallia Knottingley for making this fantastic donation as we will be able to support even more people in the local community.”
The Verallia (formerly Allied Glass) Knottingley team have shown remarkable care and generosity at a time when those less fortunate are experiencing great difficulties. The team will continue its efforts working closely with Kellingley Community Hub in supporting those in need, including their most recent drive for employees to donate Easter eggs to be handed out to children living in the local areas to raise the spirits of those less fortunate over the Easter holidays.
