The Gift of Glass

Christmas shopping can be a little like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. Walking through glittering tinsel clad shopping centres in search of the perfect gift for those closest to you. But what gives a Christmas gift that extra bit of sparkle?

62% of consumers state they look to give alcohol as gifts at Christmas time, and we don’t blame them. Who wouldn’t love opening a present to find their favourite tipple inside? Stores are full to the brim with spirits brands’ take on Christmas gift sets, each with their own special charm. But which are the best to give? To answer this, our experts at Allied have pulled together all the components of a perfect present.

Gorgeous Glass

At the top of the list is creating an exquisite bottle worthy of being gifted. Look to the Shivering Mountain gin bottle as an example. The details in this bottle are extraordinary and elegantly capture the essence of the Peak District. The bottles punt houses the Mam Tor, aka the ‘Shivering Mountain’ and hidden on the base are the co-ordinates for the mountain which inspired the name. The stunningly balanced bottle has been designed with chamfers around the body, which makes the mountain appear as though it is shivering when it is rotated.

Another beautiful example is the Chase Vodka bottle. Designed to incorporate root details to resonate with the distillery’s potato farming roots, encapsulating the brands image within glass.

These are the details that will make a bottle stand out in the crowd and look beautiful nestled in a gift box for the perfect Christmas gift.

A Personal Touch

Conveying your brand image through a well-crafted package can be an experience within itself and keep promiscuous consumers charmed by your festive offerings. A luxurious box filled to the brim with thoughtful Christmas messages, mini festive cocktail inspiration booklets, matching drinking glasses and other gems perfectly positioned around your bottle will act as the perfect Christmas surprise.

The Instagram phenomenon has created a ripple effect on what consumers value most from products. Gifts with a certain cachet are most likely to become the centrepiece of your consumers latest Instagram post. A spectacle worth thinking about when considering how to assemble your gift boxes.

Perfect Packaging

The packaging itself is just as important as what goes inside. Customers are drawn, more than anything to products that look good, with 81% of consumers stating that they have bought something due to the aesthetics of a products packaging. And nothing is going to fill the receiver of a gift with more joy than unwrapping exquisitely packaged products.

Luxurious boxes beautifully designed with on-brand imagery, with crisp coloured tissue paper nestled inside can be what elevates your product from plain and bland to an item of excellence.

Indulge in Glass

The desire for stunningly packaged products is higher than ever, and this translates directly into consumer shopping habits when searching for the perfect gift. Your packaging is your brand.

Developing the correct aesthetics can be the difference between consumers choosing your products over the gift set to the side of yours. Don’t let your products slip into the background.

18th of November marks International Poitin Day.

Poitin is a traditional Irish spirit, typically distilled between 40%-70% ABV that dates back to 1st Century AD. Historically the spirit was outlawed in Ireland as a result of taxation in 1661, but more recently has had a revival, being legalised in 1997.

Poitin carries an abundance of Irish heritage, being made with native ingredients such as barley, potatoes, and oats. Today Poitin is quickly gaining popularity, as it’s exported across countries, telling its story across borders.

Embodying Irish craftsmanship, @DrinkMadMarchHare_ celebrates heritage in every bottle. They expertly produce smooth, authentic poitin, encompassed in a decadent glass bottle created by Verallia.

Today marks an artistry that is often described as ‘fiercely Irish’.

Happy International Poitin Day, sláinte!

We are proud to announce, that after dominating the category with three bottles shortlisted, Verallia are the winners of Glass Pack of the Year, for @secretgardendistillery's botanical gin bottle! 👏

We also received commendation on our ‘Classic Laddie’ bottle, created for @bruichladdich. Another excellent example of sustainability hand-in-hand with sophistication, as they opted for a 34.47 % reduced-weight bottle.

Well done to our talented team for crafting award-winning glass packaging that fuse sustainability and style!
