The Company
Gravity Drinks is the creator and distributor of some of the industry’s most unique spirits. With a talent for re-imagining the ordinary every day, they specialise in bespoke branded spirits and liqueurs for any occasion. Their diverse portfolio of niche brands attracts casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike, looking for a premium drink to match any experience.
The Brief
We were approached by the team at Gravity Drinks to create a one-of-a-kind glass bottle to house their delicious chocolate liquor. With the aim of encapsulating the joy of Easter while emulating the luxurious nature of the product, the glass bottle’s design needed to be eye-catching while on the supermarket shelf.
Starting only with a basic drawing sketched by the Gravity Drinks team on a piece of note paper, we set to work creating this stunning design.
Designing the Egg Royale Bottle
After viewing the initial sketches made by the Gravity Drinks team, our in-house design team started the process of creating a bespoke mould that would capture detailed patterns on the egg. A giraffe print embossed design was chosen to best emulate the look of sumptuous chocolate, partnered with a glossy sprayed exterior, the Egg Royale glass bottle perfectly mimicked a high-quality Easter Egg.
In addition to a bespoke design, we wanted to create a seamless look from bottle cap to base. To achieve this, we worked with a third-party bottle cap supplier to create a 3D-printed mould that was then used to make the Egg Royale’s bottle top. The partnership enabled us to perfectly match both the colour and design to create an elevated yet unique aesthetic.
Ensuring Scalability of Bottle Production
After working collaboratively with the Gravity Drinks team and manufacturing a one-of-a-kind bottle, the Egg Royale glass bottle was immediately seen on supermarket shelves. While the Gravity Drinks team initially opted for a smaller-than-average quantity run, this later changed due to consumer feedback. The consumer feedback was overwhelmingly positive, stunned by the likeness of the glass bottle to an edible chocolate Easter egg, the consumers demanded more. The team then requested a larger-scale run of the product to keep up with demand. Thanks to our UK-based manufacturing plants, we were able to offer the Gravity Drinks team flexibility and scalability that ensured the long-term success of the product.
Since its release, the Egg Royale has been seen both in Dan Murphy’s and BWS (sub-brands of Woolworths, Australia), as well as Costco UK. As of 2024, it is continuing to be stocked in high-profile locations across the world.
Award-Winning Aesthetics and Newsworthy Design
Getting your name out in front of the right people is crucial to establishing your brand, and that starts with creating a great product. As a result of its innovative glass bottle design, the Egg Royale has won the prestigious Pentaward, achieving a bronze medal in the beverages category in 2023.
